The Drastics Live at KDHX Studios

Hey kids-  About a week ago, Chicago’s The Drastics stepped into the KDHX studios and laid down some serious sounds.  The entire set aired on last night’s Ska’s The Limit but you can still catch the session via this internet, right here:

Playlist for Ska’s the Limit on October 25, 2009

2009 has shaped up to be quite a year for new Ska and Reggae releases. Just last week, I acquired brand new material from King Django, The Slackers, Chris Murray and Go Jimmy Go.  As it follows, I brought all that down to the station, last night, for your listening pleasure.  Just to keep things on that new tip, I also debuted new stuff from The Specials, Ken Boothe, Dawn Penn, Unlikely Alibi, Bedouin Soundclash and so much more.

New stuff is my favorite stuff.  If you missed your chance at the live broadcast, click on over to KDHX.org for the archived stream.

Playlist for Ska’s the Limit on September 06, 2009

Last night’s show kicked off with some brand new Vic Ruggiero, as well as brand new Big D and The Kids Table.  Big D got a special apology from this host, right off the bat- I was under the mistaken impression that they were simply a cover band.  It turns out they’re much better than that.   Hepcat’s Earthquake and Fire went out to the people of LA.  I gave you a taste of some spaghetti western-style ska before dropping some seriously skankable Brenda Lee and other country flavored tunes.  Shortly before I fell asleep on the sound board, I put a long set of deep ska-jazz into motion, featuring Royal Roost, Da Whole Thing and The Drastics.  I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

If you missed it, you can stream this episode from KDHX.org for the next two weeks.
