Upcoming Shows!

Hey kids-  Here’s the scoop on some ska coming to our town:

  • On Sat. June 13, Rancid will be playing Pop’s along with Rise Against.  Rancid is supposed to have an organ-heavy ska track on the new album, I can’t wait to hear it.
  • Then, on Tues. June 16, The Pinstripes and The VOID UNION will play The Gramophone.   I’m very impressed by both of these bands and I’m happy as hell to see them come through St. Louis.  Click on there names to hear some tunes on their MySpaces.
  • Lastly, on Mon. Aug 3rd, Vans Warped Tour is returning to St. Louis, and with a better line-up than I’ve seen in years.  They’ve got something for every kind of ska fan, out there.  Ska acts include Big D and the Kids Table, Less Than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto and Westbound Train.  Not to mention, Bad Religion- for those like me who remember them fondly. And I’m really curious about Angelo Moore’s Dr Madd Vibe Experiment- what could it be?

Hope to see you there!

Playlist for Ska’s the Limit on May 17, 2009

This week has been great. On Monday, Westbound Train came by KDHX studio to record a few songs for our Live Performances series.  Then off to their show at the Firebird.  The crowd was light, but dedicated- and I even saw some familiar faces from way back.  I really appreciate everyone who came out- and thanks to Westbound Train for including St. Louis on their tour.

Last night’s show features the Live Performance from Westbound Train, as well as lots of soulful ska and reggae.  Towards the end, I tipped my hat to Star Trek and finished things off with a moody-as-hell dub from Ticklah.

Westbound Train to Appear on Ska’s The Limit

Westbound Train has been one of my favorite Ska/Reggae bands for a long time… and I have high hopes for their new album Come and Get It on HellCat records. As many of you already know, Westbound has already started a massive tour to support Come and Get It- which will bring them to St. Louis on Mon, May 11… and more specifically to the Firebird at 7:30.

I am proud to announce that right before they head to the venue that night, the Westbound Boys will be swinging by KDHX studios for a little Live-in-Session action. This performance will be aired the following Sat night, on my show, Ska’s The Limit.

I’ll be putting up links to the show and the session as soon as they air- so stay tuned. And maybe I’ll se you at the Firebird for what promises to be a killer show.
