Playlist for Ska’s the Limit on December 27, 2009
I really wanted to do a retrospective of the past decade in ska music, but there just wasn’t time. I had to settle for a review of some of the best releases of 2009. It really has been a great year and a great decade for this music. The sound has evolved from ska-punk to trad ska, it’s explored early reggae and rocksteady, and most recently ska-punk has been on the rise once again. Ska music is more than one sound, ska music is even more than just ska music. Jamaican revivalism is alive and well and more diverse than ever. I only hope that this two hour sampling is a fair representation of this multifaceted genre.
If you missed it live, swing on over to KDHX.org where it can be streamed for the next two weeks.
