Playlist for Ska’s the Limit on July 19, 2009

This week’s episode leaned a bit to the Reggae side, as I showcased a few of the many songs that have been performed to the Liquidator riddim.  Tracks like, What Am I To Do and Chairman of The Board feature the actual Harry J riddim.  However, these aren’t just versions of the classic riddim, oh no- these are live tunes, covers and  remixes that utilize the legendary bass and drum lines to create something completely unique.

Other than this riddim poping up ever set or so, this episode of STL went like usual- with plenty of new and classic Ska and Rocksteady.  Below you’ll find lots of liks to muisc and videos, and if you missed this episode you can find the online archive here.

Thanks to everyone at Dancin’ Mood for helping locate nearly all of the Liquidator tracks, and for being an all around great group of guys and gals.

Void Union Live in Session

Well it took a little time to find it’s way to the internet, but The Void Union‘s live session and interview are now up on the KDHX page.  If you haven’t been hipped to the VU yet, they are a traditional-style side project for members of several top ska bands like Westbound Train, Satori and The Toasters.

We had a short talk between songs, but the guys had to get moving to their gig at the amazingly comfortable Gramophone.  However, they found time to sneek in one extra song for the kiddies listening to Grandfather Paul Stark’s Musical Merry-Go-RoundMonkey Ska!

Please Enjoy.
